Putnam County FFA  Attends 90th Missouri FFA Convention

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., April 20, 2018 – FFA members from across the state,  met in Columbia, April 19-20, at the 90th Missouri FFA Convention to honor fellow members for outstanding achievements, conduct association business, elect new officers and participate in leadership workshops.

Rise Up was the theme for this year's annual convention, which  attracted more than 8,000 students and guests to Hearnes Center on the University of Missouri campus.

Ten FFA members of the Putnam County FFA chapter attended this year’s convention and competed in various Career Development Events (CDES) and received awards.  The Putnam County FFA chapter had 1 team compete in CDE’s, 1 member received a state proficiency award, and two members received the State FFA degree. Those competing and receiving awards were:

Dairy Cattle team: Justin W, Carsen S, Maggi F, and Grant M. They placed 40th at state and received a group II rating.

 

State FFA Creed Speaking CDE:  Emily D. placed 6th in the state and received a plaque.     

 

State Proficiency Award:  Jessica V. received a plaque for being the area winner of Swine Production Placement.

 

State FFA Degrees:  Amy M. and Joel S. both received the State FFA Degree, which is given to the top 3% of the state membership each year.  

 

State FFA Delegates:  Tony B. and Justin W.  

The Missouri FFA Association has 25,920 members, ranking fifth as a state in membership. FFA strives to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.  Also attending this year’s convention were chapter advisors Randy Morris and Clyde Bondy, and chapter FFA Secretary, Whitney R.
