Student Council Practices "Beyond Self"
The Putnam County R-I Middle School Student Council decided they wanted to do something for someone in the community. They voted to make Valentines for the residents of the Putnam County Care Center. After school on Friday, February 14, the MS Student Council officers went to the PCCC after school to share their Valentines and a word of encouragement with the residents and staff. Case P. said, "It was a good experience because we were able to visit people that can't get out and see the people they want to. We brought smiles to their faces and I hope we made their day." Every time we've done this project, the students feel a sense of "something past myself." The students leave with a better sense and appreciation of our elder community. They make a finer connection that in your youth and even in the later years of one's life, one still has something to offer someone else.
