A great home activity for all ages is describing.  It can be a lot of fun too!  All you need is a pillow case or a bag, and 10 items.  Next refer to the picture in this article.  It gives ideas on how to describe an object.  Talking or asking others to remember a special memory about an object is fun too!  For the younger kiddos, you may need to cue for details; however, older ones should be working on doing this more independently.  One thing to remember… try to make your descriptions specific.  A lot of kids who struggle with language have difficulty with this.  In example, if the object is an apple and they say it belongs in the food group, prompt for “which food group?”  Another great way to extend this activity is putting 10 items in a bag and then have your kids guess what you are describing.  I have done this many times in therapy and the kids love it.  I hope you try and enjoy this activity.  Take care and stay healthy!
