Learning About Food Through Experience
Students in Mrs. Stobbe’s high school cooking classes have had a busy start to the school year. They began their studies on foods with 15 entries into the Putnam County Fair baking divisions. Students entered into categories including cookies, pies, quick breads, yeast breads, and brownies. The high school cooking class took top honors in several divisions. According to Julia Child, “no one is born a great cook, one learns by doing”. Likewise, students will be “doing” exactly that this year in the Family and Consumer Science (FACS) classroom, learning about food through experience.
