FAB 5 First Chapter Fridays
Fridays are FABULOUS in fifth grade! Our class loves "First Chapter Fridays"! Every Friday, I read aloud the first chapter of 4-5 different books throughout the day. I read the first chapter ONLY - just enough to give the students a "taste" of the book and leave them hungering for more. Students sign-up to read as few or as many of these shared books as they choose. At the end of the day, a "book lottery" is held to see which student gets to be the first student to read the "First Chapter Friday" books. As soon as a student finishes the book, he/she gives the book to another student who requested the same book. "First Chapter Fridays" help make reading FABULOUS!
