Big Ideas and Debates to End the Year
Mr. Christensen
Zach H. and Grace S. go head to head in the final round of Presidential debates in 7th Period.Recently in Economics and Government, we have been doing some fun projects to end our semester. In Economics class, the students were put into groups and tasked with making their own small businesses that would be here in Putnam County. There were a variety of businesses created ranging from coffee shops to bowling alleys. Each group needed to consider the effect that their business would have on Putnam County. As the final portion of their project, they needed to present their business to the class and try to gather money from investors.
In Government class, each student had to pick a president and research ten accomplishments that they had during their time in office. Once that was done the students were placed in a bracket and debated their fellow students in a March Madness-style tournament to determine who is the best president in US history. Following three class periods we were able to crown a winner in one class and get to the finale in the other class. Our one winner in 7th Period was George W. Bush as represented by Zach H.
It has been an absolute pleasure to teach your kids this semester and I look forward to seeing them all again in January at the start of the 2nd semester. I would like to wish each of you a fun and safe holiday season!
Happy Holidays!
