Reading for Meaning

Reading Comprehension

Reading instruction is developed around the five components: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Reading comprehension is understanding what has been read.  Students need to be able to read for meaning and understanding.  Sometimes this is difficult for students.  Parents can help their children by practicing this important skill at home.  Reading Rockets, a website with a plethora of resources, explains how you can help your child at home.
