PCR-I School Board Announces Mr. Jamie Tipton to serve as Putnam County Middle School Principal

The Putnam County R-I School Board of Education is pleased to announce the selection of Mr. Jamie Tipton as the next Middle School Principal at PCR-I School District, effective July 1, 2023. 

 

Mr. Tipton is no stranger to Putnam County as he was raised here and graduated from Putnam in 1994. Mr. Tipton served in the 101st Airborne for the United States Army from 1998-2002. He earned a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Central Missouri in 2004 and a Master's (2015) and Specialist’s Degree (2016) from William Woods University.

 

Mr. Tipton began his career in education in August 2004, teaching Physical Education classes at Adair County R-II in Brashear. In 2005, he had the opportunity to move back home and took it, teaching Social Studies and P.E. for grades 7-12 at Putnam County Middle and High School. During his 12 years at Putnam, he also coached several sports. In July 2017, Mr. Tipton had a leadership opportunity arise and made the move to Milan to serve as the Assistant Principal and Athletic Director from July 2017 to June 2018 for Milan C-2 Schools. In July of 2019, Mr. Tipton was selected to be the High School Principal for Green City Schools, serving students in grades 6-12 since then, and will continue to lead and serve there through the end of June 2023. 

 

Mr. Tipton and his wife Mandy have 3 children; Asher, Channing, and Aria. He enjoys spending time with his family, helping coach their children in sports, weight lifting, hunting, fishing, and outdoor activities.

 

When asked for a comment on his upcoming move back to Putnam County R-I Schools, he said, “I want to thank Dr. Halley and the Putnam County R-I Board of Education for this opportunity to serve the district as Middle School Principal. I always enjoyed my time at PC and all the relationships built there and I look forward to being a resource for staff and students in this new role.”
