Upcoming Immunization Clinic

The Putnam County Health Department will be coming to school on March 15, 2023, to offer immunizations to all students 11 years old and over. Vaccines that will be available include meningitis, Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis), and Gardasil (HPV). This clinic is being offered for compliance in the 2023-2024 school year. All required immunizations for the fall of 2023 MUST be completed before the first day of school or a proper Exemption Form must be on file before students are allowed to attend. Missouri State Law has the following requirements to attend school regarding these vaccines:

Tdap:

A Tdap vaccine is required for all incoming eighth (8th) grade students if the student has not received the Tdap vaccine within the past two years. Students are eligible to receive the vaccine beginning at age 11.

Meningitis:

One dose of meningococcal vaccine is required for students entering eighth (8th) grade and a second dose for students entering twelfth (12th) grade. Students are eligible to receive the first dose as early as age 11 and the second dose once they are 16.

Gardasil:

The Gardasil vaccine protects against diseases caused by the human papillomavirus. This vaccine is not required by Missouri State Law to attend school. It is strictly optional but offered as a convenience for students who would like to receive it or are due for their next dose as it is typically given at the same time as Tdap and Meningitis.

Consent forms were sent home with all students in grades 6-11 earlier this week. If you would like your student to participate in this clinic, please complete the consent form and return it to school by Friday, March 3rd. Please call the Putnam County Health Department at 660-947-2429 or Nurse Stephanie at 660-947-3361, ext. 319.
