Agriculture Contest Teams Qualify for State

38 Agriculture Students attended District Ag. Contests in Columbia on April 4th. Six of Ten teams qualified for State Contests.

 

After several weeks of preparation and five practice contests, the agricultural contest teams headed to the Northeast District Contest in Columbia, Missouri on April 4th, 2012.  A total of ten teams competed consisting of 38 Putnam County students.  When contests were over, the results were posted and six teams qualified for state competition.  These teams will compete in state contest in Columbia on April 19th and 20th.  Agriculture contest areas are based on classroom curriculum and give students an opportunity to learn more in-depth specific knowledge about various agriculture contest areas.  The northeast district is comprised of about 65 schools.  

The following is a list of the teams that competed, their rankings, and their respective team members:
Entomology placed 7th overall (out of 32 teams) and qualified for state contest.    The team consisted Craig G, Dakoda O, Katie R, and Samantha S.
Dairy Foods placed 5rd overall (out of 31 teams) and qualified for state contest.  The team consisted of Dillon B, Trey R, Derek T, and Becca M.
Agronomy placed 10th (out of 22 teams) and qualified for state contest.  The team consisted of Krista F, Jacey V, Shelby R, and Ashley S.                                                                                                   
Forestry placed 8rd overall (out of 25 teams) and qualified for state contest.  The team consisted of Samantha D, Gloria C, Damien G, and Ashley H.
Horse Judging was 29th (out of 42 teams).  The team consisted of Riley W, Haley B, and Sydney O.
Dairy Cattle placed 11th overall (out of 26 teams). The team consisted of Nioka K, Kristen C, Chelsey V, and Phoenix T.
Soils placed 8th overall (out of 18 teams) and qualified for state.  The team consisted of Allen N, Jarrod M, Brittany G, and Klayton M.
Meats placed 9th overall (out of 28 teams) and qualified for state.  The team consisted of Montana S, Sydney M, Drake M, and Alex O.
Livestock Judging placed 26st overall (out of 39 teams).  The team consisted of Kailey C, Niki C, Marissa S, and Eric W.
Ag Mechanics placed 8th (out of 25 teams). The team consisted of Dakota V, Jacob V, and Ty C. They were alternates to State.


The following individuals placed as top ten individuals in their respective contests, they are:  Craig G placed 4th in the Entomology contest, and Nioka K placed 7th in the Dairy Cattle contest. Also attending the contests were advisors Clyde Bondy and Randy Morris.
