Throughout the month of September, each class has worked diligently towards improving a core skill. Language Arts 1 and Guided Reading have focused largely on comprehension. Though not all of us in Language Arts 1 or Guided Reading are fond of the material, To Kill a Mockingbird has been a fair success for the students. As we complete the second third of the novel the students are gaining a greater understanding of the novel as a whole.

Our Folklore class has learned about motifs common to folklore and fairytales and after finalizing the design of their heraldic symbols they are ready to start exploring the middle ages through the exploits of King Arthur and his knights.

Guided Reading students, after reading a variety of materials, have finally settled on individual titles that are of interest to them. They are starting on their first-in-class writing assignments which are about character analysis and summaries.

Journalism finished a murder mystery project and has since started constructing a fairy tale newspaper.
