The "flu shot" is an inactivated vaccine (containing killed virus) that is given with a needle in the arm. The flu shot is highly recommended by physicians for people older than 6 months, including healthy people and people with chronic medical conditions such as asthma.
Influenza is an infection of the nose, throat, and lungs caused by influenza viruses. The 2025-2026 flu vaccine that will be given at the school will help protect against three flu viruses, including two types of "A" strains and one type of "B" strain.
