Preschool & Kindergarten Screenings

Pre-entry screenings are standard practice for any child entering preschool or kindergarten at a public school. Screenings are conducted by the Putnam County R-I School District team. No preparation is needed for your child to attend the screening and is performed at no cost. The PCR-I educators will simply evaluate things like hearing, vision, and developmental milestones through play activities.

We’re excited to welcome our newest learners and their families to Kindergarten Round-Up at Putnam County R-I!

To help make the day run smoothly, families are asked to complete our Kindergarten Round-Up Registration Form ahead of time.

📝 What to Expect

  • Complete the registration form and select your top 3 preferred appointment times
  • You will receive a confirmation email from Mrs. Jolene White (Elementary Secretary) or Mrs. Angie O’Reilly (Elementary Principal) confirming your appointment time
  • 📧 Please be sure to check your spam folder

👧🧒 Eligibility

Students must be 5 years old by August 1, 2026, to attend Kindergarten in the 2026–2027 school year.

📌 Important Preschool Note
Students currently enrolled in Mrs. S. Whitworth’s or Mrs. Mayers’ preschool classes do NOT need to attend Kindergarten Round-Up on January 31.

📄 What to Bring (Required)

These documents are required to complete the screening process:

  • Birth certificate
  • Proof of residency
  • Immunization records
  • Custody paperwork (if applicable)

💉 Health Department On-Site
The Putnam County Health Department will be available from 8:00 AM–12:00 PM to offer required school vaccinations.
