FFA Week

Preparation for FFA week began the week before and involves a lot of effort from all members.  We started off the week with 8th grade recruitment on Tuesday.  Students interested in joining FFA next year in high school visited the Ag room and watched a video of the past year's FFA activities while enjoying some popcorn.  Wednesday we hosted one of the most successful FFA appreciation breakfasts we've ever seen.  The turnout of community business people and parents was outstanding.  Unfortunately, the  Ag Olympics  scheduled for Wednesday night had to be cancelled due to bad weather.  On Thursday members, as part of Food for America, demonstrated the importance of dairy foods to the third graders.  Elementary students loved helping to make butter from cream using the fruit jar shake up method. Tasting their fresh butter on crackers was even better.  On Friday one of the most anticipated events of the year will take place as students get to visit the FFA barnyard in the Ag room. Elementary students often get their first up close look at farm animals during this part of FFA week.  It's all a lot of work and a lot of fun for all involved as we share the importance of agriculture in our community and the world.

Jazmine serves some of the freshly made butter on crackers to Mrs. Whitworth's class.
