After battling weather the first part of the season, track is finally in full swing. As the busy spring continues, the Putnam County Junior High Track teams are having a lot of success at the meets. On the team there are 50 boys and girls participating in track. So far one school record has been broken. Claire T.  broke the pole vault record with a vault of 7’6 feet, a record that was previously held by Jaylee K. who has been doing very well at high school meets this year. Other pole vaulters that are having success include Jesslyn K., Carter Q., and Jake R., who has vaulted 8’6 this year. Other athletes that have received medals this year include: Chase T. in the 100 &200, Jaydon P.  200, Vincent J.  triple jump, Blaine P. -  high jump, hurdles, & triple jump, Colton W.-discus, Lance F. -high jump, and relay team members of Chase T. , Jake R., Brayden W., Karson A., Lance F., Jaydon P. have all medaled. Girls medalists include: Maddie F.h-hurdles & 100, Samantha D.-100, Hailey R.-200, Claire T.-200 & high jump, Sofia V.-400, Kelsey S.-400, Shaylee V.-hurdles, Kaylyn H.-long & triple jump, Adeline D.-long & triple jump, and relay team members that have medaled are Maddie F., Sam D., Hailey R., Claire T., Kaylyn H., Kelsey S., Amy S., and Adeline D.  Another exciting thing this year is that JH will have a Grand River Conference track meet with the eight east schools participating May 3 at home.  We will compete against Albany R-3, Braymer C-4, King City R-1, Maysville, Milan, North Andrew R-6, Pattonsburg, Polo, Princeton, Salisbury R-4, South Harrison, St. Joseph Christian, Stanberry R-2, Trenton, and Worth County R-3.
