Randy Morris: Teacher Spotlight

This week is National FFA Week! We thought it fitting to spotlight one of our outstanding Agriculture educators, Mr. Randy Morris!

Mr. Morris has been teaching agriculture for 31 years! When we asked Mr. Morris who inspired him to pursue a career in education, Randy said his parents. His father was an Agriculture teacher as well, and his mom taught Kindergarten. Fun fact: Mr. Morris was born in Unionville when his father taught agriculture education here at Putnam County from 1968-1971.

Mr. Morris graduated from Stanberry High School and attended the University of Missouri-Columbia and earned a Bachelor's of Science in Agriculture Education in May 1991. He later received a Masters in Agriculture Education from North West Missouri State University. Mr. Morris taught for 2 years at Newtown-Harris, 5 years at Holt County R-II, and has spent the past 24 years with us at PC!

When Mr. Morris isn't at school, he enjoys hunting, shooting, gardening, spending time with family, and working in the shop. He also enjoys basketball and KC Chiefs football.

Here's what a fellow staff member had to say about Mr. Morris: "Randy is an oldie and a goodie! He has been here for years. He truly promotes his program and believes in his students. He is always willing to take a stand with them and for them. I believe the students respect him and learn a lot of life lessons through his program. His program offers book and shop classes as well as activities in and out of school. Students get to experience some really cool places by attending the FFA conventions. His program promotes leadership that is a benefit to all of his students. Randy is a "class act". He will be missed after he retires."

Mr. Morris is retiring this year after serving our district and FFA program so well for 24 years. Help us congratulate Mr. Morris and thank him for leading and inspiring our FFA students. Congratulations, Mr. Morris!
