PCHS Class of 2024 Senior Spotlight: Avigail Harlan

🎓 Senior Spotlight: Avigail Harlan 🎓

Let's celebrate the remarkable Avigail Harlan from the PCHS Class of 2024! 🌟💙

👩‍👩‍👧‍👦 Parents: Jeremy and Allison Harlan
🚣‍♀️ Family Fun: Avigail cherishes their yearly float trip—a time of carefree fun with loved ones. She shares, "My favorite activity to do with my family is any activity we do together in the summer."

🌟 Inspiration Journey: Avigail's biggest inspiration? Her supportive parents, who've always believed in her and encouraged her to strive for greatness.

🎉 Extracurricular Adventures: Avigail's high school journey was packed with involvement in softball, cheer, NHS, FCCLA, DECA, and FBLA. These activities instilled responsibility and enriched her experience.

🏆 Proudest Achievement: Avigail shared, "My proudest achievement during high school would be winning first place at Regionals for cheer and first place in all four events at State GameDay cheer." Graduating surrounded by lifelong friends marks a significant milestone for Avigail—a testament to her dedication and perseverance.

🌱 Growth & Advice: From freshman to senior year, Avigail has matured and grown in countless ways. Her advice to incoming freshmen? Respect your peers, cherish the moments, and embrace the journey because time flies. Avigail shares, "I feel that from freshman year to now I have changed tremendously. I have grown so much in four years and as I look back on my memories from years past I laugh because of how much me and my friends have changed, and in good ways. I have become more mature and less rambunctious. The advice that I would give to the incoming freshman is to respect the people in grades above you, try new things, and most of all just be nice to your friends and the other people around you because high school flies by so make the most of it and have fun."

📚 Favorite Class: Avigail's top pick is her college English class with Miss Tosspon. The engaging atmosphere and adult-like treatment from her teacher made learning enjoyable and empowering. Avigail told us, "My favorite class so far in high school has been my college English class with Ms.Tosspon. This is my favorite class because she knows how to make it fun, and she treats all of the students in that class like an adult and expects that out of us. I also respect that about her because sometimes in high school people don't treat you that way so it's nice to be looked at like that."

🌟 Off-School Bliss: When not in school, Avigail finds joy in spending quality time with friends and family, basking in their happiness and laughter.

💭 Three Words: Fun, charismatic, and stubborn, —traits that define Avigail's character.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Admiration: Avigail admires her family the most for their unwavering support, laughter-filled moments, and the simple joys they share. She told us, "The person that I most admire would be my Mom and Dad. I could never choose just one because they are equally as great. They would do anything for me and my sister and they have always been there. I love my Mom and Dad so much because they have shown me and my sister what a good relationship looks like and no matter what the situation we need to forgive and move on because it is not worth wasting your time over holding grudges. That is why I admire my parents the most and I wouldn't trade them for anyone else."

🎓 Future Plans: Avigail plans to attend Indian Hills Community College for two years before pursuing a doctorate in chiropractic at Palmer University. While uncertain about the future, she trusts there's a plan in store. She shares, "I honestly can't say where I'll be in 5-10 years because I don't know. I do have plans for what I want but I just like to focus on the things I have going on now."

🌟 High School Reflection: Avigail describes her high school experience as stressful but undoubtedly transformative.

👋 Missed Moments: What Avigail will miss most about high school? The daily interactions with friends, treasuring the memories they've created together. She shares, "What I will miss most about PCR-1 is getting to see my friends every day. It's weird to me that when I go to college I won't get to talk to them every day and plan random trips to eat or go shopping. I have truly appreciated the time that I have had to spend with them."

🎓 Favorite Quote: Avigail chose two: "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not evil, to give you a future and hope." Jeremiah 29:11 and  "I can be changed by what happens to me. But I refuse to be reduced by it." – Maya Angelou

🎉 Congratulations, Avigail! Your journey is just beginning, and we're #PutnamProud of all you've achieved! 🎉
