The Looking Glass Self: How Society Impacts Us.
Sociology students have been working on posters that show how the different aspects of society impact us as individuals at different ages. We looked at 4 different age groups. Teens, 20-30, 40-50, and 60-80. Students were instructed to come up with two examples of how each agent of socialization impacted each age group. As you can see, we had some great work on posters. The 10 agents we discussed included:
- Religion
- Family
- Peers
- Community
- Education
- Politics
- Criminal system
- Economics
- Language
- Media
We will be finishing our unit about culture this week before moving on to our unit focused on economics and the circumstances that can lead to poverty.
