PC Agriculture Students
Qualify for State Competition
After several weeks of preparation and four practice contests, the agricultural contest teams headed to the Northeast District Contest in Columbia, Missouri on April 4th, 2018. A total of eight teams competed consisting of 31 Putnam County students participated. When contests were over, the results were posted and one team qualified for state competition. State teams competed at state contest in Columbia on April 19th and 20th. Agriculture contest areas are based on classroom curriculum and give students an opportunity to learn more in-depth specific knowledge about various agriculture contest areas. The northeast district is comprised of 60 schools.
The following is a list of the teams that competed, their rankings, and their respective team members:
Dairy Cattle placed 3rd overall out of 23 teams and qualified for state contests.. The team consisted of Maggie F,, Justin W,, Grant M,, and Carsen S.
Dairy Foods placed 10th overall out of 38 teams and was alternate for state contest. The team consisted of Whitney R,, Jaylen W,, Guin A,, and Hannah M,.
Agronomy placed 15th overall out of 27 teams. The team consisted of Kori H,, Hayden H,, Jorge L,, and Dalton D.
Livestock placed 19th out of 36 teams. The team consisted of Mason P,, Micah H,, Cole R,, and Colder E.
Entomology placed 19th out of 36 teams. The team consisted of Amy Mc., Jessica V., Tyler R., and Shelby S..
Forestry placed 13th out of 21 teams. The team consisted of Jordan M., Joe F., and Joel S..
Meats placed 11th overall out of 31 teams. The team consisted of Gavin M., Richard R., Tony B., and Torque B.
Horse Judging team placed 12th overall out of 27 teams. The team consisted of Jade D., Kaitlyn R., Aaron S., and Tori G..
