Get the Lead Out Progress Update: October 11, 2023.

**Important Update: Progress on Addressing Lead in School Drinking Water**

Dear Parents and Community Members,

We hope this message finds you well. The following is an update on the actions we have taken to address the "Get the Lead Out" testing of our school's drinking water, as well as the progress we've made since our initial communication.

**Ongoing Safety Measures:**

Since our last communication, we have taken several important steps to ensure the safety of our students and staff in compliance with the Get the Lead Out of School Drinking Water Act (RSMo 160.77) and EPA guidelines. Here's what we've done:

**1. Immediate Actions:** As mentioned earlier, we swiftly implemented measures to safeguard everyone's health. Faucets and outlets with elevated lead levels were removed from service, and clear signage indicating their non-potable status was put in place. Everything has been installed or is scheduled to be installed soon. Follow-up testing will be performed on all newly installed equipment.

**2. Follow-Up Flush Testing:** On August 9, 2023, we conducted follow-up flush samples to further localize the sources of lead contaminants. This led us to put those back in service with a 3-5 minute flush daily before use. Some hand-washing stations and showers will not be remediated, but signage will remain in place to make everyone aware that the water is non-potable but can be used for handwashing.

**3. Detailed Information:** For those interested in the specifics of our testing plan and results, you can find detailed information, including lab reports and testing criteria attached below. We are committed to transparency throughout this process.

**What's Next:**

Everything with a new implement or piece of equipment will be re-tested after being installed. We will share those results with you as soon as those tests are completed and the results are available.

**Your Support Matters:**

We want to express our gratitude for your trust and understanding as we navigate this situation together. Your support and cooperation are invaluable as we work diligently to provide a safe environment for everyone within our school district.

**Continued Communication:**

We remain committed to updating you on our progress and any further actions taken. Your peace of mind is our top priority, and we want to ensure that you have all the information you need.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Your input is essential to us, and we are here to address any issues you may have.

Thank you for your patience and collaboration.

Sincerely,

Dr. Heath Halley
