Celebrating Success: PCHS Junior Selected for Mini Medical School Program

Maddi's dedication and commitment to her future in medicine have been recognized, as she has been selected to participate in the prestigious Mini Medical School program at Mizzou this June.
Months ago, Maddi learned about the Mini Medical School program, designed for incoming seniors with a passion for pursuing a career in medicine. With the invaluable support of her school counselor, Mrs. Brook Fleshman, and a glowing recommendation from her softball coach and Biology and Anatomy teacher, Mrs. Jordan Buford, Maddi embarked on the rigorous application process. After investing her time and effort into crafting a compelling essay, Maddi eagerly awaited the outcome.
Last week, Maddi received the news she had been eagerly anticipating – she had been accepted into the Mini Medical School program! The timing of the announcement was serendipitous, as Maddi discovered the exciting news while on her way to a college visit at Mizzou earlier this month.
We couldn't be prouder of Maddi's accomplishment, and we are confident that she will make the most of this incredible opportunity. Her dedication to her academic and professional pursuits serves as an inspiration to us all.
More About Mizzou's Mini Medical School:
Mini Medical School offers Missouri high school juniors a unique opportunity to gain insight into the field of medicine. Participants will engage in:
- Introduction to Patient-Based Learning (PBL)
- Special sessions with clinical and research specialists
- Hands-on experience in anatomy, microbiology, and clinical skills
- Meaningful interactions with current School of Medicine students, faculty, and staff
- Seminars on college and medical school application processes
- Social activities to foster camaraderie and relaxation
