Proposition 2 Projects: an Update

Working together for school success.

Today, July 14th, the final portion of concrete was poured to finish out the high school parking lot.  Canopy work is starting at the elementary school entrance and ceiling work is finishing up in the library; flooring will begin on Friday.  The student restrooms are getting poured epoxy flooring as part of that renovation and the tile in the high school commons restrooms looks great.  The skilled tradesmen are doing a professional job throughout this project and our student crew has worked hard as well.  The gym is being repainted and finished to reflect our move to the Grand River Conference.

If you've been attending summer school, working in the building or have just driven by, you know that we've had some dusty, dirty work going on in and outside of the high school.  All the effort is paying off and summer projects to improve the school are starting to show some results.  The south parking lot has more than half the concrete poured (still no driving on it, please!).  The drive between the track and the east side of the school has also been done.  A central sidewalk has replaced the two walkways to the commons with additional lighting there and on the west side of the school. Many of our students are working this summer and they'll have memories of their contribution to this effort to last a lifetime.

The library, which will serve both middle and high school, now has a floor to ceiling window on the west side and glass doors opening to the high school hallway.  A new opening with glass doors connects the library to a dedicated computer lab.  New ceilings and lights are being put in place in the high school halls, library and commons.  Restrooms are being renovated throughout the school and canopies for the student drop off areas will be installed in early July.  As work progresses, be watching for more updates on what's happening at PC R-1 to make it the best possible place for our kids to learn.
