First Grade Learns the Importance of Rules!

At the beginning of the school year, many classrooms will establish classroom rules and expectations. In our classroom, we discuss what we should and shouldn't see as we work hard learning. Based on those we agree upon our rules and talk about why those are important. We also begin learning in social studies how communities outside of the classroom have rules, but they are called laws. Laws, like rules, also have consequences for not following them. We discuss examples of how we can be a good citizen in our classroom, school and our communities by following the rules and laws. We were very lucky to have two guests come explain how laws work in our state and why they are important to everyone. A big THANK YOU to Mr. Brad Ream and Mr. Kirk Hendershott for spending time with us explaining how we can be good citizens (and for the goodies too)!
