4th Grade Kicks off the Year

4th grade has had a great start to our school year.  We have been building our stamina for independent reading and writing, and getting used to the new technology in our classroom this year.  We are very lucky and happy to have chrome books for the first time this year.  These give the students freedom of movement and have helped our classroom become a more comfortable place.

Using our new chrome books, we have explored several websites that help us learn.  New to our school this year is Exact Path, which includes math, reading, and ELA.  The students are also using Math Antics, which has math videos and lessons for many different math concepts.  The students LOVE the website Epic, which has books and educational videos to suit readers of all interests and levels.

The fun activity that you see in the pictures is the students decorating their writer's notebooks.  The notebook is a place where students can build skills and stamina for writing with freewrites, prompts, journaling, and responses to what they are reading.  The 4th graders brought items from home to make their notebooks personal, and had great fun being crafty.

We are looking forward to an awesome year in 4th grade!
