Sweet Science!
Third grade is wrapping up our first science unit about matter. In our last lesson we learned about how matter can change from one state to another by either adding or taking away heat. To investigate this claim to we decided to see what happens when we take heat away from a liquid. Students each started with a vanilla creamer pod. Groups then took turns shaking their pods in a container full of ice and salt. We learned that the salt helps the ice to remove the heat more quickly from the liquid and turn our creamer into ice cream! Yum!
